vignettes

Imagine a snapshot in time and space. Imagine a series of scenes loosely connected, moving pictures, sometimes fragmented, but giving an impressionistic view of a character, a contrast a setting or a concept. Imagine that these may be graphic or literary in nature. You may have seen them at the beginning or end of a book or verse; they may have been a verse. You may have read them as prose: elegant, short, and descriptive or even scary. You may have seen them bordering like vines around a picture or photographic portrait of a person wearing a mask. They may not be a series but may appear on their own. The 'Vignette' (vin-yet) is all of these things. From ages long gone, good vs. evil, to contemporary times the vignette still has its place as a 'little vine' amongst the vines.
